Got into my 1968 Mustang at the end of a great day at a local classic car; And it wouldn’t start. At least the weather was great and so was the view. Glad a few members of the club I’m a part of were still around. They immediately diagnosed the problem that the solenoid was bad and it wasn’t getting any power to the starter. After a while we found a set of jumper cables. We bypassed the solenoid by using the jumper cables to connect the battery to the starter wire with the key in the ‘on’ position the engine started right up! Yes, there are a few sparks involved with this method. I’m glad we were able to get her stated and I didn’t need a get her towed home by AAA. Tuesday I will go to Ford and get an OEM solenoid to replace the bad one.
